  17. <p>     "Not to put Pretty Woman down, but it was a caramelized view
  18. of prostitution," says actress THERESA RUSSELL, 33. She'll
  19. present the gritty side in her fall film, Whore, which explores
  20. the depths of the world's oldest profession. The whore Russell
  21. portrays is Liz, a character made up from the stories of
  22. real-life hookers. She considered the role so brutally honest
  23. that at first she was afraid to take it. "It depicts the most
  24. horrid existence," she says. Her experience reinforced
  25. Russell's belief that prostitution should be legalized. "To
  26. pretend it doesn't exist is crazy."
