- <p> "Not to put Pretty Woman down, but it was a caramelized view
- of prostitution," says actress THERESA RUSSELL, 33. She'll
- present the gritty side in her fall film, Whore, which explores
- the depths of the world's oldest profession. The whore Russell
- portrays is Liz, a character made up from the stories of
- real-life hookers. She considered the role so brutally honest
- that at first she was afraid to take it. "It depicts the most
- horrid existence," she says. Her experience reinforced
- Russell's belief that prostitution should be legalized. "To
- pretend it doesn't exist is crazy."
